Protecting forests and preserving biodiversity in Germany and Malawi

Our goal for 2025

Together with Welthungerhilfe, Pina Earth and myclimate, we want to protect our forests and make our ecosystems more resilient.

The forest in crisis

From Germany to Malawi – climate change knows no borders. Droughts, heavy rains, and pest infestations threaten nature and humanity. We urgently need to intensify our climate protection measures to preserve habitats for future generations.

Our commitment

Where are we active?

Germany's forests are in a precarious situation: Drought, bark beetle infestation, and forest fires are severely affecting them, especially the vulnerable monocultures. Drought weakens the trees, bark beetles are destroying vast areas, and rising temperatures are increasing the risk of fire. Four out of five trees are acutely threatened by climate change.

Malawi is one of the countries most affected by climate change. Deforestation, soil erosion, and extreme weather events threaten the livelihoods of its population. Since 80% of the population depends on local agriculture, declining crop yields lead to increasing poverty and malnutrition.

Together for healthy forests

By converting pine monocultures in Brandenburg into species-rich mixed forests, as well as reforestation and sustainable agriculture in Malawi, we are strengthening ecosystems, preserving biodiversity, and securing the livelihoods of local communities. In doing so, significant CO₂ emissions are being reduced and sequestered for the long term, while affected regions are being specifically prepared for future climate conditions. In Malawi, this also helps improve agricultural production and food security in the region.

Who we work with

We've partnered with experts in providing global aid: vetted national and international aid organizations. We trust them because we can see exactly how they use the money. This way, we can be sure that our aid is reaching the right place.
