EinDollarBrille

Since 2012, EinDollarBrille e.V. has been pursuing the goal of providing basic optical care for all people worldwide. The basis is a pair of glasses that have been developed to be both affordable and robust. The frame is manufactured directly on site by specially trained and permanently employed specialists using a simple bending machine that does not require any electricity. The material costs are around 1 US dollar, hence the name.

Why glasses are important

According to the WHO, more than 950 million people worldwide currently have no access to basic eye care. They often don't have enough money or there are no opticians nearby. As a result, children cannot learn or adults cannot work to provide for their families.
