Save food in Germany

Food waste is a global problem. In Germany alone, almost a third of the food produced is thrown away. This is also worrying in view of the increasing poverty rate in this country.

There are over 960 food banks in Germany with 60,000 volunteers and full-time employees. Together they achieve a logistical masterpiece and support around two million people in need with food.

Where we help

Why Germany

Approximately 14.1 million people (source: Poverty Report 2022, Paritätischer Gesamtverband) are currently affected by poverty in Germany. Even though Germany is one of the richest countries in the world, there are many people who have little money left for food. Current developments and rising food prices are exacerbating this situation, so that around two million people are regularly dependent on the help of food banks.

Food rescue

Together with Tafel Deutschland, the umbrella organization of food banks, and the Berliner Tafel, we are fighting against this waste of important resources and saving food to support people affected by poverty.

Our goals for 2023

We want to save as much food as possible from being thrown away. Together with Tafel Deutschland and Berliner Tafel, we are committed to a fairer distribution of food.

How we work

We have teamed up with those who are experts in helping around the world: verified national and international aid organizations. We trust them because we can see exactly how they use the money. This way we can be sure that our help reaches the right people.
