Global gender inequality has a major impact on the development of girls and women. In the poorer countries of the world in particular, they experience many disadvantages. They often go to school for less time or not at all, marry early and are victims of sexual violence. In order to promote education, not only girls and women, but also men need knowledge and understanding of the female cycle and sexual health. This is important for a safer and more equal coexistence.
Gender injustice is unfortunately a widespread problem worldwide. To ensure a safer future and to take a first step towards equality, we are working together with our partners in South Sudan and Sierra Leone.
South Sudan has been an independent state since July 9, 2011, making it the youngest state in the world. Despite its young age, the country is marked by unrest and civil war. More than four million South Sudanese have fled to neighboring countries or within their own country. There has been official peace since 2018, but the country continues to suffer from unrest and the consequences of years of conflict. In the north of the country in particular, the unrest has destroyed the social infrastructure. Due to a flood disaster in 2021, the region is also in an acute food crisis, which is particularly affecting small farmers.
Sierra Leone is one of the poorest countries in the world. Weakened by civil wars and Ebola, the country suffers from destroyed or missing infrastructure. In addition to economic and structural difficulties, the population in Sierra Leone also struggles with food insecurity and a high level of gender-based violence, which further weakens the health system.

What we want to achieve
Education and awareness-raising are two important starting points for successful social development. With your support, we want to enable our experienced cooperation partners in South Sudan and Sierra Leone to educate, promote respect and address taboo subjects - with the goal of a fairer future.
We have teamed up with those who are experts in helping around the world: verified national and international aid organizations. We trust them because we can see exactly how they use the money. This way we can be sure that the help reaches the right people. Our selected partners in the effort to promote equality are Welthungerhilfe and Action Against Hunger.
