In 2021, plastic cotton buds were banned from our bathrooms. The reason is simple: even the smallest products generate huge amounts of plastic waste. But there are even bigger problems in bathrooms. For example, shampoos and shower gels. Here you can find out why solid shower gels and shampoos are a truly sustainable alternative.

The four most important reasons to switch to solid shampoo

Solid shampoos and shower gels score points when it comes to packaging. Keyword: cardboard instead of plastic. But there are even more solid reasons that speak in favor of the solid alternatives. Here are the four most important arguments for solid shower gels and shampoos:

Argumentation 1

Less consumption

Solid shampoos score highly when it comes to the number of uses. Consumption depends on many factors, but the rule of thumb is: one solid shampoo replaces approximately two bottles of liquid shampoo. This is one of the strongest arguments from the point of view of sustainable consumption.

Argumentation 2

No plastic

Solid shampoo is better for wastewater because it contains no preservatives and usually fewer fragrances and dyes. The packaging can be made from recycled cardboard or paper - rather than plastic. Solid shampoos also save energy during transport because they take up less space than bottles of liquid shampoo.

Argument 3

Water saving

To put it simply, a solid shampoo is the same as a liquid shampoo - just without the additional water in its production. For comparison: liquid products such as shampoo and shower gel usually consist of between 70 - 90% water. Solid shampoo usually foams and nourishes the hair just as well as a conventional shampoo. However, because it does not contain water, fewer preservatives are necessary compared to liquid shampoo.

Argumentation 4

One plus one

The special extra of share's solid products: Each of our care products provides a similar level of hygiene for people in need. This means that over 17.5 million hygiene products have already been provided - from Bangladesh to Uganda.
