Protecting forests and preserving biodiversity in Germany and Liberia
Our goal
Together with Welthungerhilfe, Pina Earth and myclimate, we want to protect our forests and make our ecosystems more resilient.

The forest in crisis
From Germany to Liberia – climate change knows no borders. Droughts, torrential rains, and pest infestations threaten nature and people. We urgently need to strengthen our climate protection measures to preserve habitats for future generations.
Our commitment

Where are we active?
Germany's forests are in a precarious situation: drought, bark beetle infestation, and forest fires are taking a massive toll, especially on vulnerable monocultures. Drought weakens the trees, bark beetles are destroying vast areas, and rising temperatures are increasing the risk of fire. Four out of five trees are acutely threatened by climate change.
In Liberia, approximately 25% of the forests have been lost since 2001. The main reasons are illegal logging, slash-and-burn agriculture, the expansion of agriculture, and the use of wood as fuel. This has led to the disappearance of vital habitats for animals and plants. The soil is losing its fertility, and many people who depend on the forest for their livelihoods are finding it increasingly difficult to feed their families.

Together for healthy forests
In Brandenburg, our partner is transforming pine monocultures into biodiverse mixed forests and managing them for the long term. In Liberia, the partner organization is working with local communities to reforest destroyed forests, create sustainable sources of income, and empower people with knowledge and technology.
Through these projects, we are making ecosystems more resilient, helping to preserve biodiversity and secure the livelihoods of local communities. This significantly reduces and sequesters CO₂ emissions in the long term, while specifically preparing affected regions for future climate conditions.
Who we work with
We've partnered with experts in providing global aid: vetted national and international aid organizations. We trust them because we can see exactly how they use the money. This way, we can be sure that our aid is reaching the right place.
