Help refugee families on Lesbos and in Ukraine

The goal of this project has been fully funded since January 6, 2025.

Where we help

People on the run are particularly vulnerable and usually find themselves in extreme humanitarian situations. Whether displaced in their own country or in host countries - they are dependent on urgent support and solidarity. That is why we are working with our partners to provide assistance to refugees in Ukraine and on Lesbos.

Why Ukraine?

The war has left many people in acute need. According to the UN, around 17.7 million people urgently need humanitarian aid and protection. Many do not know how to get food because supply lines have been disrupted, crops have been destroyed by the war, or they cannot afford the food available (Source: OCHA, 2022 and 2023).

Why Greece (Lesbos)?

The situation on the Greek island of Lesbos is tense. In September 2020, 12,000 people lost their homes overnight when the Moria refugee camp burned down (UN, 2023). In 2022, almost 18,800 refugees arrived in Greece, 12,758 of them by sea. The living conditions in the camps are grueling for those seeking protection, especially women and children. There is a lack of basic goods such as food and hygiene items. At the same time, it is uncertain when people will be able to travel on.

What we want to achieve

Together with our partners, we set clear and effective goals. On the ground, we facilitate the distribution of meals to people in Ukraine and on Lesbos.

This is how it continues

After successful funding in Ukraine and Greece, we are continuing our support in both regions. Click here to see our current commitment to providing meals for refugees with the UN World Food Programme (WFP) and Europe Cares .
