When people find themselves in life-threatening emergencies due to natural disasters or conflicts, it is important to provide rapid assistance to ensure their survival.
Humanitarian aid organizations are often the first line of defense here, providing those affected with the bare necessities: This includes basic supplies of food and drinking water, as well as safe accommodation and access to medical and legal assistance.
Through interventions such as distributing emergency meals, we and our partners want to provide vital support to as many people as possible.
People on the run are particularly vulnerable and usually find themselves in extreme humanitarian situations. Whether displaced in their own country or in host countries - they are dependent on urgent support and solidarity. That is why we are working with our partners to provide assistance to refugees in Sudan and on Lesbos.
Following the escalation of the conflict in April 2023, Sudan is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis. Around 25 million people in the region do not know where their next meal will come from. In less than a year, Sudan has become the world's largest displacement crisis and 9 million people have been forced to flee their homes.
The situation on the Greek island of Lesbos is tense. In 2023, over 41,000 refugees arrived in Greece by sea, more than three times as many as in the previous year. The living conditions in the camps are grueling for those seeking protection, especially for women and children. There is a lack of basic goods such as food and hygiene items. At the same time, many people are uncertain when they will be able to travel on.
245.000Distribute meals
Together with our partners, we set clear and effective goals. On the ground, we facilitate the distribution of meals to people in Sudan and on Lesbos.
We have teamed up with those who are experts in helping around the world: recognized national and international aid organizations. Through transparent use of funds and needs-based project planning, they ensure that aid reaches the people who need it most.
Our selected partners in the fight against world hunger are Europe Cares and UN World Food Programme (WFP) .
